20 400-Calorie Snacks That Won't Wreck Your Diet

While 400 calories might be larger than your usual afternoon snack or nighttime nibble, hear us out: Keeping your snack around the 400-calorie range will keep you fuller longer and less likely to overeat during other mealtimes. And that's what the  weight loss plan is all about: eating four, 400-calorie meals each day and using one of those meals as a snack. The following 400-calorie snacks are options you can enjoy wherever you are, from the vending machine to happy hour, and everywhere in between.

Popcorn Party Trail Mix
Toss 6 c microwave light butter popcorn with 2 Tbsp grated Parmesan while the popcorn is still warm. Sprinkle on 2 Tbsp cashew pieces and 2 Tbsp raisins. Enjoy with one 12-oz bottle of light beer. 

Chocolate-Vanilla Twist Ice Cream

Order one small (1 c) soft-serve light chocolate-vanilla twist ice cream in a plain cone with a topping of 2 Tbsp chocolate or rainbow sprinkles.

Mediterranean Munchies
Dip 1 c each carrot sticks and red pepper strips into ½ c hummus, plus 6 whole wheat crackers.

Slice 1 oz Cheddar and 1 oz Brie. Eat with 4 Triscuits, and sip a 5-oz glass of white or red wine.

Beer + Nuts At The Bar
Order one 12 oz bottle of light beer. Munch on a cupped handful (¼ c) dry roasted peanuts and 16 small pretzels twists (or skip the pretzels and have another light beer).

Sweet Yogurt Treat

In a bowl, layer one 5.3 oz container fat-free Greek yogurt with 1 c blueberries and ½ c low-fat granola. Drizzle with 2 tsp honey.

Party-Perfect Cheese Plate
Preheat oven to 350°F. Meanwhile, toast 1 Tbsp sliced almonds in skillet over low heat until browned. Place a 2 oz wedge of Brie on baking sheet and top with 1½ tsp apricot jam; sprinkle with the almonds. Bake about 10 minutes. Thinly slice ½ pear. Serve the Brie and pear with 6 plain Melba toasts.

Single-Serving Sundae At Home
Drizzle 1 Tbsp chocolate syrup over ½ c Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream. Top with ¼ c non-dairy whipped topping and 2 maraschino cherries.

Marshmallow Bar + Macchiato At Starbucks
Order 1 Tall Caramel Macchiato. Pair it with 1 Marshmallow Dream Bar.
