Meghan Markle Used a Classic TV Trick to Sneakily Hide Her Baby Bump
Jump-starting all of our Mondays, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their pregnancy early this morning. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex broke the news on Kensington Palace's Twitter account, just hours after arriving in Sydney, Australia for their royal tour.
But upon landing in Australia yesterday, we all missed a major clue to Meghan's pregnancy as she departed the plane. Using one of Hollywood's oldest tricks in the book, the Duchess of Sussex sneakily distracted from her baby bump by holding two large objects in front of her stomach. The objects of choice? Just two totally subtle giant purple binders.
Of course, TV actresses typically use this trick while filming pregnant to distract from their baby bumps—whether hiding behind an oversized handbag, prop, or in Meghan's case, some purple binders. Given her acting resume, it's no surprise she's already mastered this trick flawlessly.
On Twitter, many were quick to notice and call out the Duchess' sneaky binder placement:
Do I love that Meghan was carrying around a bump binder just like she would have been if she was still on TV shows? Yes I do.— Jess Bobess and The Cone of Silence (@foswh) October 15, 2019
Today marks the first day of Meghan and Harry's joint royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, the Kingdom of Tonga, and Fiji. The tour, which is scheduled to last 16 days, has a busy lineup with a whopping 76 engagements planned. It's unclear whether Meghan's pregnancy will change any of the previously scheduled events.
This marks the couple's first official overseas trip since their wedding in May—and it's looking like it will be quite an eventful one.
